Offering Cabaret, Conversation
Welcome ~ to A Salon for All Seasons
SALON PAGES UNDERGOING EDITING ~ END DEC 17 ~ EARLY JAN 18
FRIDAY 3RD NOVEMBER ~ SALT CAFE
What is it?
A mix of cabaret, conversations and candour; these salons showcase primarily women artists in music and storytelling.
With your host Rosanna Marie and her alter-ego the Duchess Provocateur contributing regular provocation
these evenings offer an opportunity to socialise beyond your immediate circle, designed as they are,
to encourage engagement . . .
Do I have to dress up?
There is no obligation to do anything you feel uncomfortable with, we will be pleased to welcome you whatever your style, however, should you wish to don an outrageous frock, or cut a dash in an eccentric jacket,
pin a small nosegay to your corsage, or simply sport a boutonniere, your host will be delighted . . .
Is it for me?
Try one and see . . . perhaps reminding yourself
"if you do what you have always done, you get what you have always got"
so do come along and remember as Anais Nin once said
"Life shrinks or expands according to ones courage."
Kate has released five albums between 1999 and 2014, produced 6 international theatrical shows
and appeared regularly on national radio. Originally classically trained, she started singing as a student
at Birmingham University and has toured the world with her one woman shows, selling out venues like
the Festival Hall and Ronnie Scotts and working with some of the best jazz musicians in the country.
Kate’s sixth album, SONGBIRDS, features 10 original songs recorded acapella, layering her voice
instead of using instruments, with techniques inspired by learning from vocal virtuoso Bobby McFerrin
in New York. Her live show Songbirds, which tells her story of finding her own voice while singing
the stories of extraordinary women singers is touring the UK through to March 2018.
As with the album, all the songs in the live show are sung acapella - using a vocal looper to layer the voice
and create the songs - sometimes together with the audience.
